Description
The Pittsburgh Pennsylvania city skyline can be seen well from many different vantage points. The city is mostly found on a triangular piece of land with a river on each side that runs off into a third river. One river is the Allegheny and the other is the Monongahela. The third is the Ohio. At the start of the Ohio is Point state park which features a giant fountain that is lit up most nights during the summer until midnight.
The best vantage points of the cityscape are from the north where you will also find PNC Park and a little further down Heinz Field which are homes to the Pirates and Steelers respectively. Also a great vantage point is from the south where you can look down on the city from mount washington. Tourists and locals alike enjoy taking the Duquesne incline to add to the viewing experience.
Pittsburgh is also the birthplace of Andy warhol and features a museum of his work and is also home to the NHL Penguins. Not far outside Pittsburgh is Oakmont Country Club where the U.S. Open has been held on more than a few occasions along with a few other highly prestigious tournaments.
Pittsburgh is also known as the Steel City and has many bridges due to being situated between two rivers.
